In this Masterclass you will learn how to build the dramaturgy of your documentary from scratch: how to read the material you have, how to structure a story without a pre-written script, and how the director and editor work together to find the film that lives within the footage. Anne Fabini and Gustavo Vasco will guide you with clarity, drawing from their real experience in the editing room.

Right there, Casatarántula LABS is born. To do the opposite.
To slow down time and invite silence.
To open a space where the development of your film does not respond to the market or to the pressure of having answers before finding the questions. So that you can honestly look at what you hold in your hands.
Casatarántula LABS is a house of processes.
A place where we work without rushing, think without fear, where making mistakes is part of the journey, and where, for just a moment, you don’t have to defend yourself. Where the film you are making can be explored, finding the form it deserves.
But be aware that a film doesn’t only need to be born. It also needs to find its way into the world.
And that is also part of the craft: learning to talk about your project in front of your team or those who can finance it; understanding how markets, open calls, and funds work, and what is the right place for what you are creating; building a pitch that doesn’t betray what you are doing. Moving through that territory without losing yourself in it.
That is also the work.
That’s why at LABS we work on two fronts, in two rhythms.
On one side the Laboratories: deep development, process without formulas. We work from listening to what needs to emerge in the film and in you. Auteur cinema cannot be forced. It must be accompanied.
On the other side are the Masterclasses: conversations with experts who know specific territories of the film universe from the inside. Not to give recipes. To share what they learned by walking them.
The two go together because they need each other, they feed each other.
Casatarántula LABS exists because we make films to travel far, and so that those who watch them feel that something belongs to them.
