Alexya Salvador, Latin America's first transgender reverend

Synopsis

Alexya Salvador is a trans, black, peripheral woman of indigenous descent, married, mother of three children, including two trans girls. She is also married, a mother of three children, including two trans girls. And she lives a very normative life. During a violent conservative wave in Brazil, she became the first trans Reverend in Latin America, challenging orthodox religious values, becoming a transfeminist religious leader. For her free way of perceiving religion, she is always threatened with death. Her future is uncertain. But through her journey, she transforms religion in Brazil and welcomes all the excluded who had no right to faith.
